Who’s ready for Season 3 of “Nobody Wants This”?! Because I sure am! I’m so excited to see these stories unfold. Some of it still seems mysterious and I look forward to seeing how the writers bring it all together. As I was getting all caught up and watching Seasons 1 and 2, one particular episode stood out as a topic that I think is talked about a lot.“When You Know, You Know,” Season 2, Episode 7 of “Nobody Wants This.”
Now, is it actually true that when we know, we know? Do we really though? This question or idea is slightly complex because it really depends on the person, their journey, how much they are trusting themselves, and what part of them feels like they know. For example, is this a part of our Wisdom, our Intuition, our Trust that is saying we know? Or is this part of our Wounding that is being validated? There’s a saying that I have with my friends, which is:
What you don’t know, you don’t know.
And you know, what you know.
*Peep the tank I’m wearing in the photo!
It sounds silly and obvious, but it’s pretty wise 😉 Let’s tune in to the part of us that is sensing this knowing about relationships. In this episode in particular, Morgan is sensing that she knows about her fiancé, Andy, but what she really knows is that her Intuition is saying No to him. However, she wants to believe in the possibility of this relationship because of her desire to be loved like her sister. While Joanne knows about Noah, and Noah knows about Joanne, that they are so meant to be together, despite their challenges. This is more intuitive in the way they are learning to trust themselves and lean into the discomfort of the loving relationship they are creating. Even though Noah has doubts along the way, too, because of the uncertainty surrounding conversion, his knowing of his Love for Joanne is deeply clear to all of us watching.
Eventually by the season finale of the show, they do show the knowing of a breakup as well. Morgan ends up leaving Andy, which was such a journey to get to. I mean, after all, she ends it at their elaborate engagement party. Also, Noah and Joanne both come to realize and trust their knowing that they belong together. And they will work through the unknowns that were creating pressure, distance, and also expansion, simultaneously.
Well, what do you know?
Many times, it takes us time for us to realize what we really know. Of course. It’s ok for us to take our time, and it’s ok to give ourselves this permission:
Permission to take our time with what we know.
And what we know could go either way. It could be a knowing to walk away from something or walk towards something. Many times, even walking towards something comes with challenges, and the encouragement is to lean in versus avoidance, denial, fear, etc. And then other times, walking away from something takes a tremendous amount of courage, power, and Love for ourselves. Saying Yes and saying No are equally as powerful. Thanks for teaching us this in a playful way, “Nobody Wants This,” Erin Foster, and team!
Hats off to good writers!
I’d say, in general, what I love about this show is that the writers are talking about really complex and real topics that are present in relationships all the time, and they’re doing it in such a good way, with lighthearted comedy, without taking away the essence of the realness and rawness. This is why I can watch a show like this. Props to the writers for really bringing in real-life experiences!
It would be fun to have a conversation with the writers on their Podcast “The World’s First Podcast with Erin & Sara Foster” at some point, if they’re open to talk relationships!
Another show that I love that shows Love in such a real way is “Heated Rivalry”. If you haven’t seen it, DO take the time to watch. It does get hot and heavy, and that is part of life, too!
Heartwork
Working with my Matchmaking and Relationship Coaching clients, I see this all the time. I believe that most of my work is to guide people to return to their parts that can choose what they know from a Wise place within them. Guiding them to trust themselves is really the intention. Love is actually the inevitability, staying in Love is where the rubber meets the road, so to speak. So having the tools to navigate the complexities of our past and what we want to create now can be such a game changer.
